Twisting cobbled streets with an eclectic collection of individual shops are teamed with some of the country’s top attractions, including Alnwick Castle Dubbed the Windsor of the North, Alnwick Castle was the location for Hogwarts in the Harry Potter films.

Home of the Percy family and Dukes of Northumberland since 1309, alongside is the Duchess of Northumberland’s blooming marvellous creation – The Alnwick Garden. Dine among the treetops of The Alnwick Garden in the fairytale setting of one of the world’s largest tree houses, or enjoy afternoon tea with a pot of Earl Grey tea, which originates from nearby Howick in a cosy café. The Garden is a space designed to be enjoyed by all your senses, with a collection of over 4,000 plant varieties to discover, thousands of seasonal blooms and countless opportunities to get wet and play in The Garden’s water sculptures.

Alnwick is at the heart of Northumberland, the bustling market town is full of things to do and places to visit with a wide range of activities for the whole family to enjoy. From the famous Alnwick Castle and the beautiful Garden's, a theatre, playhouse, a range of shops and cafe's, and more.

Enjoy a visit to this beautiful and peaceful town, ideally located in the heart of the county's countryside. There are so many walking and cycling routes to explore, all close to the heart of Rothbury. The town offers a peaceful haven. The River Coquet meanders through the centre, creating a pleasant walk along the river bank. A good range of shops and Rothbury bed and breakfasts can be found on the High Street as well as a selection of pubs and tea rooms.

Rothbury is in the centre of Northumberland and is therefore an ideal base for exploring. It’s just 30 minutes to the Northumberland Coast Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and three minutes to the hills. From Rothbury you can explore the surrounding Simonside Hills and Cheviot Hills and all of Northumberland National Park. Walkers and cyclists will love the spectacular countryside. The town and surrounding area host events throughout the year. They include a Traditional Music Festival held in July, a Round Table Street Fair in May and the Alwinton Border Shepherds Show in October.
